Internship Information

What We Expect:: ZLS Publishing offers student interns an opportunity to learn the basics of not just the publishing industry but the graphic design and marketing industries as well. We offer students the opportunity to receive hands-on experience in a variety of departments and to polish their communication talents in an intimate, supervised atmosphere. The internship position requires individuals who are both responsible and versatile. While an effort is made to show the intern that a variety of skills are needed, many of his or her tasks are assisting the general staff as needed. While the following lists of tasks tries to cover all the responsibilities, it does not strictly reflect all you will do while here. Interns should provide an "at school" phone number and a home number in case ZLS Publishing needs to contact you prior to arrival. Each internship is an unpaid internship. College credit only will be received. You must be able to spend the entire semester working as an intern.

Skills Preferred: Reliability and punctuality; writing skills along with Word processing skills (MS Office); Internet research skills, ability to work independently, organizational skills, flexibility to perform a variety of tasks needed in each department.

Information to know before applying: Our regular hours are 9-ooam-5-oopm. There are occassional after-hours meetings that the intern may be required to attend. ZLS offers interns full-time or part-time hours. These hours will depend upon school requirements. However, this is set with each intern individually before beginning. Once the hours are agreed upon, the intern is expected to adhere to those hours and failure to do so will result in a negative review and possible class failure depending upon your school requirements. Interns are expected to call if something prevents them from coming in at the agreed time. YOU WILL WORK! Not getting the staff coffee or lunch but real! actual! work. Interns are treated as staff and the same requirements we expect from staff will be expected of you. Please do not apply if you have no intentions or desire to learn or do real work.
